Learn to Vermicompost
Euless City Hall, 201 N. Ector Dr.
Do you live in a space that won’t allow outdoor composting bins? Are you already an expert in traditional composting and want a new challenge? Come check out this free worm composting class to learn how to create a nutrient-rich organic fertilizer with the help of eco-friendly earthworms!
Becca Knutson, Tarrant Area Food Bank’s Community Garden Coordinator will guide the class through the steps of putting together a small, simple vermicomposting system that can be stored inside the home.
Registered workshop participants will be provided with:
- One 10-gallon (or smaller) storage bin with tight-fitting lid, courtesy of TCEQ Master Composter grant.
- 1 lb of red wiggler worms
Workshop participants may bring:
- One sandwich bag of fruit/vegetable scraps, frozen or fresh (no citrus)
- Several sheets of newspaper
The materials above will be enough to make one vermicomposting system.
Space for this workshop is limited and you must register by Monday April 29 to have a bin. Be sure to reserve your spot today by contacting Betsy Deck at 817-685-1821 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
